When preparing to paint one of my larger works on canvas, I begin with a studio study - an essential part of my creative process. These studies allow me to explore the subject, composition, and colour of the artwork on a smaller scale before committing to the final piece. Each one is a unique and spontaneous expression in its own right, painted on a 21 × 29cm piece of archival cotton paper.
